Afghan Friends Network has made the difficult decision to completely step back from our work and to cease accepting donations in 2023. After the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021, AFN focused on supporting the director and the program manager of our education programs as they started to build new lives for themselves and their families. We also funded basic food supplies for our education community in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan—former teachers, students and their families. The situation for women in Afghanistan has become even worse recently. This is devasting as our main focus has been the education of girls and adult women.

We are proud of the work we have done to help educate 4,300 girls, 1,000 boys, and 350 adult women. We also funded the salaries of 25 educators who were dedicated to helping the girls, boys, and adult women become educated to help reach their full potential. No matter the situation in Afghanistan, an education can’t be taken away. None of this could have been possible without you, our wonderful community of donors dedicated to supporting the people of Afghanistan. Thank you.
